Back to Team

Louise has over 35 years of international business experience most recently as Chief Executive Officer at BTG plc for 15 years. She has extensive board experience with established and start-up ventures and has just been appointed Chair designate at Halma plc. Louise was awarded a DBE in 2014 for services to Life Sciences, with citations for being a role model for Women in Business and Women in Science.

Are we asking ourselves the right question? This is at the core of Louise’s approach whether it be about strategy, organisation or questions about ourselves. Together with a deep held belief in culture as a competitive advantage, these are the foundations upon which innovative and lasting improvements can be built.

After a first degree and a PhD from Cambridge, Louise spent the initial 15 years of her career in the industrial sector with a variety of commercial and planning roles in ICI and English China Clays. She then joined Baxter Healthcare where she was President of the largest European business. She joined BTG plc as CEO in 2004 where she led the strategic repositioning and transformational growth journey from a market cap of $0.2bn to $4.2bn.

In addition to Chair designate of Halma plc, Louise is a non-executive director of Atotech, Theramax and Intertek Group plc. She is also a Trustee of the Outward Bound Trust, Chair of the 1851 Trust (promoting STEM), and an Honorary Fellow of St. John’s College, Cambridge.

Louise has a partner and two grown-up children. Competitive sport is an important thread in her life from rowing, high altitude running and cross country skiing and she is a keen yacht racing sailor.
