With a background in finance and accounting, Ian has senior executive experience across a range of industries, including agribusiness, FMCG and oil and gas. He has lived and worked in the UK, Norway, Netherlands, USA and Australia. He is currently a professional director of both listed and unlisted companies, two of which he chairs.
Ian’s C–Suite experience, including both CFO and CEO roles, positions him well to act as mentor to those seeking career progression and leadership support. He is a strong believer in establishing career goals and achieving those through persistence and everyday demonstration of a values based approach to management and leadership. He is committed to assisting others achieve their full personal and professional potential.
After qualifying as an accountant in the UK, Ian’s early career was in the international oil and gas industry, working for Unocal (now part of Chevron) and BHP Petroleum. A career change then saw him focus on the food and agribusiness sectors, in which he has specialised for the past 25 years. He has held senior finance positions with ConAgra Foods Inc, CSR Sugar and was CFO of Ridley Corporation Ltd from 2001 to 2009. More recently at GrainCorp Ltd he was appointed CFO and subsequently became President and CEO of GrainCorp Malt, one of the world’s largest suppliers of raw materials to the brewing and distilling sector. Ian has formal accounting qualifications in both the UK and Australia and has an MSc from the University of London.
Ian is married to Sharon and has 4 children. He follows a range of sports, most notably Rugby Union, and enjoys hiking, travelling and reading. He still manages to run the occasional half marathon.
