There is no one-size approach to effective leadership. There is only the individual leader -- with his or her combination of skills, challenges and supporting cast -- and the specific set of
business circumstances in which that leader stands today.
At Merryck & Co we take the uniqueness of
each assignment as our starting point. We then overlay our methods and customize them to focus closely upon the real-world needs and priorities of our client.
Our assignments often come at a key inflection point in the evolution or survival of the business and in the individual leader's career.
We focus on helping the leader drive business results.
I took over running the UK division of a FTSE 100 company and our profit collapsed in my first year. Without the counsel of Merryck, I would not have survived, personally, and we would not be achieving the strong, sustainably based recovery, we are now enjoying.

A proprietary 4 step process - Scoping, Casting, Chemistry and the Retreat, provide the precursor to a successful mentoring engagement. Our process ensures you are paired with exactly the right mentor for your own leadership style, priorities and business challenges.
Having jointly committed to the engagement, the next step is the Retreat. This is a 2-day, one-to-one session with the mentor and new client. Held away from the demands of business and home, the Retreat lays the foundation for the ongoing relationship.
It is here that mentor and client form a deep mutual respect, identify the most critical priorities facing the business and the leader, and lay out an action plan and milestones for ensuring progress against those priorities. The Retreat is intense, challenging and a powerful force for positive change.
The engagement then shifts to on-going mentoring support. Typically up to half a day a month face to face (though at a timing and frequency to suit the client's needs), this stage also includes unlimited email and phone
communication. No less than quarterly, the mentor and client assess progress against priorities and challenge whether the relationship is yielding results, or if the primary actions have been accomplished.
Finally, we adhere to a 12-month review with the sponsor organization, assessing achievement against objectives, and recalibrating priorities to meet emerging challenges.
