Gabe Leung

Overview

With more than two decades in pharma and biotech, Gabe most recently served as President of OSI Pharmaceuticals, where he ran all elements of the oncology business and grew market cap from $1.4B to $4B. Previously, he ran the Global Prescription Business and was Head of the Global Oncology franchise at Pharmacia, taking revenues from $600M to over $1.3B, with operations and personnel in 80 countries. He currently serves on the Board of AMRI.

Career History

Prior to joining Merryck & Co as a mentor, Gabe spent 7 years at OSI Pharmaceuticals, serving as President of the Oncology unit and then as the chief business officer of the entire pharmaceutical business. During his tenure, which ended with the successful acquisition by Astellas in 2010, Gabe helped increase OSIP market cap from ~$1.4B to ~$4.0B.

Gabe was also a strong leader of R&D, having orchestrated the successful regulatory filing of two new indications for Tarceva, including overcoming regulatory hurdles. Gabe also had significant investor relations experience including leading one of two road show teams to raise about $450M in secondary offering.

Prior to OSI, Gabe was Group VP, Global Prescription Business, and Head, Global Oncology Franchise at Pharmacia Corporation. He led and managed a global, multi-cultural, functionally diverse business team with major presence in America, Europe and Asia. Serving on the CEO’s Corporate Operating Committee, Gabe helped turn around the organization into a top 10 and fastest-growing company. Part of his contribution was doubling his unit’s annual revenues from ~$600 million to ~$1.3 billion in less than four years.
Gabe has also held roles at Bristol Myers Squibb and Eastman Kodak Company. He currently serves on the board of AMRI.

Gabe serves under former President George HW Bush as an active member of C-Change, a national initiative aiming at eliminating cancer as a major public health concern. He is designated a Long Island Trustee by the Academy of Regional Stewardship at Molloy College and plays an active role in enhancing the Long Island community.

Personal

Gabe graduated with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin and has a Master of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Gabe, his wife and their two sons live in New York. Gabe enjoys classical music, philosophy, carpentry, and cinematic and theatric arts in his leisure.
