David Carter

David is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Merryck & Co. He has lead the firm since 1997 to what the Corporate Research Foundation recently defined as one of the “Top UK Companies of the Future”. Merryck & Co. has also been bestowed the prestigious BT Vision 100 award. With 30 years of high-level global corporate, entrepreneurial and venture capital experience, he actively mentors leaders in Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 businesses from our offices in New York, London and Sydney. Leaders and colleagues are captivated by David’s unique, personalized, results-oriented, and acutely intuitive approach to mentoring that has culminated into more successful businesses and more fulfilling lives for his clients. He supports them in doing the right things, the right way, in ways that they had never seen or thought possible before. During his eclectic career, David has worked in venture capital in the USA both on the East and West coasts, the Middle East, the Far East, and throughout Europe. After leaving Financial Services in 1988, David started and built two successful businesses, one of which he sold to a trade buyer, and the other floated on the London Stock Exchange (AIM). During his career, David has been involved either as a principal or advisor on the sale, merger or purchase of over 30 businesses. He has the reputation for being an interesting and inspirational speaker and has presented at multiple events in the UK, Holland, USA, Australia, Venezuela, India, and Abu Dhabi. He has overcome several failures and a few near disasters during his life and believes that it is these experiences and lessons learned that have shaped him more than any success to become a better mentor, parent and person. His greatest challenge and at the same time his greatest joy has been as a single parent for his two children since 1995. He is a frequent and enthusiastic golfer, a philosopher, a hopeful romantic, film lover, a decent cook, and a dedicated, loving dad. David and Kathryn married in June 2007.
